A Massapequa woman was arrested for DWI following a crash into a Farmingdale shopping plaza on Friday night.
Police say a Mercedes Benz left the road and collided with an unoccupied, parked Toyota just after 9:30 p.m. The two vehicles crashed through Great Wall Kitchen on Boundary Avenue.
Surveillance video shows a man walking to a nearby store and after just a few seconds, two cars go through the storefront of the Great Wall Chinese restaurant behind him.
Surveillance video of the crash courtesy of NuBar, a neighboring storefront in the plaza.
There was massive damage to both cars, the Chinese restaurant and Power Tacos next door.
Authorities say officers at the scene determined that the driver, 39-year-old Lauren Potter, was intoxicated.
Potter suffered an ankle injury and chest pain, according to police. A customer at the storefront also sustained a cut to her hand.
The customer and Potter, who was charged with DWI, were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Residents and business owners said several stores in the shopping plaza have been hit by cars in recent years, like Vincent’s Pizzeria.
“An old man put his foot on the gas and went through our glass window. Thank God, none of my kids were sitting there. It was terrible,” said the pizzeria’s Theresa Marino.
