Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) – On May 11, 2024, a Montana Highway Patrol Trooper was patrolling the area of US Highway 93 North and observed a vehicle traveling south at a high rate of speed. The trooper activated his front radar, which detected the speed of the vehicle at 102 mph in a 70 mph zone. The trooper activated his emergency lights and attempted to make a traffic stop of the vehicle.
The vehicle did not stop right away and turned into the Town Pump parking lot at the Wye. The vehicle attempted to pass between a pickup with a camper and a chain fence. However, the driver stopped and did not allow the vehicle to proceed further. The trooper conducted a felony stop and identified the driver as 18-year-old Dvea Acevedo.

Drug Paraphernalia in Plain View
Acevedo exited the vehicle and informed the trooper that her aunt and cousin were both passengers in the vehicle. The trooper determined that Acevedo did not have insurance. Additional law enforcement arrived and a Missoula County Sheriff’s Office Deputy observed drug paraphernalia in the back seat in plain view. The trooper further observed two bags on the floorboard of the driver and passenger seats and noted an overwhelming odor of burnt marijuana. Acevedo advised she was traveling from Mission to Missoula for work. Acevedo denied any drugs in the vehicle, including marijuana. When asked about the last time Acevedo consumed alcohol or marijuana, Acevedo responded, “Earlier this morning.” According to court documents, Acevedo stated she was “stupid” when asked why she was driving 102 mph.Jail Staff Finds Drugs
The vehicle was seized pending a search warrant. Acevedo was arrested and was transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility. Jail staff searched Acevedo and located a bag containing a pill labeled “T30” and a crystalline substance in Acevedo’s bra. The trooper recognized the pill as consistent with Fentanyl and the crystalline substance as consistent with methamphetamine. Acevedo performed the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and indicated 5 out of 18 clues of impairment. Acevedo conducted a breath test, which resulted in a 0.00 BrAC. Acevedo then agreed to a blood test and was transported to St. Patrick’s Hospital where the test was performed.More Drugs Were in the Vehicle
The trooper applied for and was granted a search warrant for the vehicle. The search yielded white crushed powdery substances, a large crystalline rock, an additional blue “T30” pill, numerous open containers of marijuana, THC gummies, a loose marijuana bud, seven electronic THC sticks, one bottle of Buprenorphine and Naloxone tabs, and numerous amounts of paraphernalia in various locations in the vehicle. Acevedo is currently being charged with two counts of felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs, DUI first offense, fleeing from a peace officer, speeding, and failure to carry proof of insurance.
