HENDERSON, Ky. (WFIE) – Officers were called to a head-on crash in the 100 block of S. Green Street in Henderson.
That area is right in front of the Taco Bell nearby the city’s riverfront.
Police say investigation revealed the driver’s of a Challenger and Mustang were racing on S. Green Street heading north.
According to a release, the Mustang swerved in front of the Challenger, causing the Challenger to swerve into oncoming traffic. That’s when it crashed head on with another vehicle.
Officers say there were three people trapped inside one of the vehicles and two trapped inside the other.
Police say the Mustang was not involved in the crash, but the driver did return to the scene to give a statement.
Dispatch officials tell us that crews had that street completely blocked off while they worked the accident.
Officials say it took twenty minutes to extricate everyone from both vehicles.
All five victims were treated on scene and taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
