PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A school bus driver had a need for speed, according to the Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD).
PSLPD says on Tuesday morning the bus driver was traveling at 37 mph in a 20 mph active school zone. Officers say the driver was cited for the violation.

The speed comes after the PSLPD’s traffic unit concluded their Back to School – Slow Down for Safety Operation.
During that two-week period, officers issued 1,849 written citations/warnings, made 17 criminal traffic arrests and one DUI arrest in the parent pickup line.
