MANCHESTER, Conn. (WTNH) — A man who claimed he hadn’t consumed alcohol before he drove on Interstate 84 had multiple empty bottles in his car when he was pulled over, according to Connecticut State Police.

Dave F. Lynch, 57, of Townsend, Massachusetts, has been charged with reckless driving and illegally operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol. He has been released on a $1,500 bond.
A trooper spotted Lynch’s Lexus at about 12:18 a.m. Friday on I-84 near Manchester. He was driving 95 mph in a 65 mph zone, according to state police. It took Lynch a half mile to pull over after the trooper activated their emergency lights and siren.
Lynch had bloodshot, glassy eyes, according to state police. There was an empty alcohol bottle in the center console, and others in the backseat. He failed standardized field sobriety tests. Later testing found that his blood alcohol content was twice the legal limit.
