An 81-year-old man was killed in a deadly multi-vehicle crash that occurred on Thanksgiving.

According to a crash report from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash happened on I-95 at around 3:36 a.m. FHP says a 20-year-old man was driving the wrong way in a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta, heading south on I-95 in the northbound lane. The 81-year-old man was driving a 2000 Toyota 4-Runner SUV heading north on I-95.

The 81-year-old driving the Toyota couldn’t avoid a collision with the 20-year-old. The crash caused both the fronts of the vehicle to collide.

The Toyota rotated clockwise as it traveled in a northwest direction, it then turned on its right side and came to a rest facing a southwesterly direction while occupying the center and outside center lane of I-95.

FHP says the Jetta traveled in a northeasterly direction as it rotated clockwise. The Jetta, carrying the 20-year-old man, exited the roadway and the rear of the vehicle collided with outside concrete wall.

The 81-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. FHP says the 20-year-old has incapacitating injuries.

FHP says the crash is still under investigation.
