CHESHIRE, Conn. (WTNH) — A Cheshire man was arrested on Friday in North Haven for driving under the influence, speeding and driving recklessly, according to state police.
A state trooper allegedly noticed two cars weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed, appearing to engage in street racing. One of the vehicles, a red Toyota 4Runner, was driving at 127 mph.
Officers said that they completed a traffic stop on the car and noticed that the driver, 43-year-old Derrick Hannon, appeared to be intoxicated. He refused to perform a field sobriety test and was arrested on scene.
Hannon is facing eight charges, including DUI, reckless endangerment, illegal racing on a highway and failure to comply. He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 20.
