Suffolk’s Street Takeover Task Force observed the drivers drag racing with their headlights off Friday night in Shirley.
Suffolk police cited a pair of drivers, both 20 years old, for illegal street racing and reckless driving on Friday night.
They say they were clocked at speeds close to 110 mph on the Long Island Expressway near exit 68 in Shirley, with their headlights off.
New Suffolk Police Commissioner Kevin Catalina says members of the county’s Street Takeover Task Force spotted the drivers – and that the task force has interrupted at least 12 incidents in the last three months.
The drivers are set to be arraigned on Feb. 27.
