New video shows arrest of BMW driver in Newport Beach road rage incident

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (KABC) — New details emerged this week in a viral road rage incident in Newport Beach that ended with a driver arrested after allegedly running down cyclists in a bike lane.

Video captured the moment a BMW driver steered dangerously close to two cyclists riding in the designated bike lane on March 21 along Pacific Coast Highway. The footage shows the vehicle nearly striking them before continuing down the road.

The suspect, who was identified as Samir Weiss of Corona, is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon and obstruction.

Police later released video of officers arresting the suspected driver, identified as Samir Weiss, at his home in Corona on March 26. Authorities also seized his blue BMW.
